The Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) board has received an official letter from King Paluta’s management expressing their displeasure over the song “Makoma” not being included in this year’s awards.
King Paluta received numerous nominations for Artiste of the Year, Most Popular Song of the Year, Highlife Artiste of the Year, and Best Highlife Song, among other categories, when the 2025 TGMA nominees were announced on Saturday.
However, his song “Aseda,” which was featured on his “Give Time Some Time” album, garnered the most of these nominations.
“Makoma” was properly submitted for Hiplife Song, Record of the Year, Most Popular Song of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year, per a petition signed by King Paluta’s management.
“We humbly write to your honourable board to demand some explanations in connection with the snub of Makoma by King Paluta, a song we duly submitted for consideration which we believe remains Ghana’s most popular song released under the year under review, generating the most excitement among music lovers to date,” excerpts of the petition said.
King Paluta’s management noted that they had highlighted these issues after none of the categories they filled with “Makoma” were evaluated by the TGMA board.
“We believe in the competence of the TGMA board and trust that a convincing reason be issued to our team, music enthusiasts, and general public on this unpopular decision of the board.
“We are confident that “Makoma” breaches no moral or ethical requirement of the board and will be ready to engage for possible consideration of the song in the categories submitted earlier,” the petition said.
