Dr. Boris Baidoo, National Vice President of the National Poultry Farmers Association of Ghana, has warned food vendors and egg sellers not to profit from the sale of eggs after President John Mahama and his diligent Minister for Agriculture, Eric Opoku, significantly lowered the cost of poultry feed.

Dr. Baidoo stated that no seller has the right to sell a single egg for more than GHS 3 or two for GHS 5 due to the current decline in manufacturing costs during a phone chat with Chief Jerry Forson on Accra 100.5 FM’s morning show.

He emphasized that the Association’s new pricing standards must be followed by vendors selling both cooked and fried eggs.

He maintains that merchants who cook and sell eggs should charge GHS5 for two eggs, which is both reasonable for customers and profitable for producers.

He emphasized that a crate of eggs comprises thirty pieces, and that poultry farmers can break even, make a respectable profit, and pay their employees without raising egg prices because feed prices are now cheaper.

Dr. Baidoo reiterated his support for the National Chairman, the Association’s national leadership, and chicken producers nationwide in their efforts to stabilize egg prices.

Additionally, he praised the President of Ghana for the renewed focus on the poultry industry, saying that local production is being strengthened by government backing.

The industry can expand more sustainably with reduced imports and better oversight.
