Two (2) Chinese nationals, LI YONGJIN and Nou Chin Haw, were detained by an NAIMOS Taskforce stationed in the Eastern Region at approximately 09:45.
They were involved in illegal mining activities at PANKESE in the BRIM NORTH District.
The two foreign galamseyers’ illegal operations have seriously contaminated nearby streams, particularly the Birim River, and badly damaged local forests and cocoa farms.
Due to the Team’s immediate lack of access to Lowbed services, the Taskforce rendered the two Chinese illegal miners’ excavators inoperable by disconnecting their monitors and control boards.

Along with burning all temporary buildings built at the site to support the galamsey operations, the Taskforce also destroyed a number of illegal mining tools and equipment.
A Toyota Tundra pickup with registration number AS 8120-20 that was discovered at the location and utilised by the two Chinese illegal miners was also confiscated by the team.
