The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has assured Kejetia market vendors that if elected president, he will finish phase II of the market.
Despite repeated requests by traders to finish the project, the second part of the market has not been developed since the first phase was redeveloped in 2015.
The merchants claim that if the current administration is unable to finish the project, it should forget about “breaking the eight.”
On Wednesday, January 25, the former president started his 24-hour economic stroll across Kumasi and chastised Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for not keeping a commitment he made to the traders following the market’s partial destruction by fire.
“It is evident from the current state of the market that the promised outcome has not materialized,” Mr. Mahama informed party members and dealers.
Additionally, he stated that while he was able to list a number of regional initiatives in 2020, the New Patriotic Party could only take pride in appointing Alan Kyerematen as a minister.
In order to finish the project and provide more jobs for people in the area, he consequently charged traders and supporters in the area to cast large numbers of ballots for him.
The former president said that in addition to discussing the market project’s delay, he would also talk about the inadequate road systems in Kwabre and other areas of the region.
As part of his Building Ghana Tour, the former president is anticipated to host a three-day, twenty-four-hour economy walk in the area.
