In the heart of the Volta region, a remarkable story of compassion and resilience continue to unfold as determined Firefighters from the Battor Fire Station have become beacons of hope in supplying clean drinking water for displaced communities and affected individuals in dire need of water by the unexpected disaster at Mepe, where the Akosombo Dam spilled its wrath.
In the face of adversity, the unsung heroes of Battor Fire Station with unwavering tenacity stepped up beyond their heroic firefighting prowess and have been assisting with evacuating affected people to higher grounds and safe havens since last Wednesday when the dam’s water was spilled.


Unfortunately, these heroic, selfless and compassionate acts exemplified the unmatched humanitarian spirit of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) is yet to be recognized by the Ghanaian Media, most of whom are followers of our social media platforms.
The Firefighters skillfully and tactically supplied clean drinking water in such a way that barrels and containers were filled, ensuring that families who had lost their homes had at least one less worry on their minds. The beneficiary communities are not only relieved, but they are elated by the efforts of these extraordinary Firefighters who have redefined what it means to be a Firefighter.
We are overjoyed to write that the Battor Fire Station’s role in supplying clean water during this crisis will be remembered as a shining example of the indomitable spirit of humanity championed by the brand, Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
