Vice-President launches Mfantsipim @ 150

Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has formally kicked off the 150th anniversary celebrations of Mfantsipim School, calling the school as a cornerstone in moulding Ghana’s intellectual and leadership history.

Speaking to the audience, she emphasised the school’s lasting legacy of excellence, discipline, and character development by pointing out that generations of students who have gone through it had made important contributions to national progress.

She also considered the institution’s influence on families and communities across generations.

The Vice President cited the long-standing and courteous rivalry between Mfantsipim and Adisadel College as an example of the ideals of mutual respect and intellectual discourse that ought to guide national discourse.

She also underlined that the school’s legacy, which is based on the Methodist Church Ghana’s goal, symbolises both longevity and the transforming power of education in fortifying the country’s foundations.

She emphasised how important it is to increase educational access without sacrificing quality and to match learning with national development priorities, innovation, and critical thinking.

At the event, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology’s Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, declared that the government would support the education of people with disabilities and that efforts would be redoubled to finish projects there.

Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang praised alumni and stakeholders for their unwavering dedication to the school’s progress and challenged current students to preserve the institution’s ideals of honesty, discipline, and service.

She expressed confidence in the Mfantsipim community’s sustained influence in the years to come and congratulated them on this momentous occasion.
