A church structure collapsed on seven construction workers at Old Bortianor in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, injuring them.
On Tuesday morning, while building was still going on, the Word In Action Church’s whole three-story auditorium collapsed.
Seven people who were working on an extension project for the theater reportedly noticed a peculiar noise, but the building fell as they tried to flee, according to several eyewitnesses.
All of the casualties were initially taken to the Bortianor polyclinic, and one of them was later taken to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after suffering a critical injury.
“I can confirm that one of the victims is seriously damaged because the pillars struck him so hard. I truly witnessed that,” a witness claimed.
According to the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), the search for any potential trapped victims is now over. The group claims it has not yet discovered what caused the catastrophe, though.
They have not yet identified the cause of the collapse, according to Wonder Matthew, deputy NADMO director for Ga South, who talked to the media.
We are currently unable to conduct any assessments. Seven people have been hurt and have been brought to the hospital for treatment, he said. Engineers are currently attempting to bring their evaluation.
