The court has granted GH¢50,000 bail to Kwame Baffoe, commonly known as Abronye DC, the Bono Regional NPP Chairman.

It has a single, unjustified guarantee.

Abronye’s health has gotten worse, and hearing about the bail has given him some solace, according to his lead attorney, Daniel Mantey Addo.

In order to ensure his prompt release, the legal team is now working to meet the bail requirements.

Abronye DC was taken into custody on September 8, 2025, on suspicion of “offensive conduct conducive to a breach of public peace.”

Police say that Abronye’s detention came after he made remarks that they believed to be potentially incendiary, including accusations against the ruling political party and the Inspector General of Police.

Abronye had applied for political asylum in eight countries, including Côte d’Ivoire, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Canada, Spain, and Germany, shortly before he was arrested.

He had cited ongoing political persecution, threats against his life, and abuse of state security powers under the current administration.
