Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, the late former First Lady, passed away on October 23, 2025, at the age of 76. 

Her family has announced that her state funeral would take place in Independence Square in Accra on November 28, 2025.

The head of the family and Akomfuohene of Otumfuor Osei Tutu II, Oheneba Akwasi Abayie, stated that the state funeral will start at 6 AM during a news conference prior to the final funeral ceremonies.

As the former First Lady returns home, the family has extended an invitation to the public to join them in celebrating her legacy.

The longest-serving First Lady in Ghana was Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, who was married to the late Jerry John Rawlings, the country’s longest-serving leader.

Her support of women’s rights and her contributions to Ghanaian society have had a long-lasting effect on the country.

As a sign of respect and remembering, the family has asked guests to wear black.
