The man shown giving a toddler what seems to be a cigarette in a widely shared video has been taken into custody by the Ghana Police Service.
On November 22, 2025, an intelligence-led operation resulted in the arrest of the culprit, Samuel Obeng Acheampong.
During questioning, the suspect acknowledged the crime and told the police that it happened approximately five years ago.
The suspect is being held, helping with the investigation, and will appear in court.
The Police Service is still dedicated to protecting children and would like to warn the public against actions that put children in danger because those who do so will be apprehended and subject to the full force of the law.
