A bench warrant for the arrest of a herdsman accused of stealing five sheep worth GH¢15,000.00 has been issued by the Amasaman Circuit Court.

Alhassan Yunus, the 17-year-old suspect, allegedly disregarded the police’s orders to appear in court.

He and Mariwan Amadu, who is accused of purchasing the stolen animals, are scheduled to be arraigned together after his arrest.

The case was postponed until December 11, 2025 by the Court, which was presided over by Mrs. Akosua Anokyewaa Adjepong.

The complainant, Mohammed Seidu, a mechanic who lived in Obeyeyie near Amasaman, was Yunus’s neighbor, Police Chief Inspector Frederick Awuah-Ansah said the court.

He stated that Amadu, the purported recipient, was an Achiaman-based merchant.

On July 18, 2025, the complainant arrived home to find his five sheep missing, according to Chief Inspector Awuah-Ansah.

Yunus was located with the animals after a search.

According to reports, Yunus acknowledged the crime and stated he sent the animals to Amadu, to whom he owed money.

According to the prosecution, Amadu was taken into custody on July 24 and acknowledged getting the five sheep from Yunus.

Later, he said, the animals left to graze and never came back.

Following an investigation, Amadu was accused with dishonestly receiving, while Yunus was charged with stealing and unauthorized entrance.
