The police have detained at least fifteen (15) individuals in connection with yesterday morning’s intermittent firing incident at the Ho Central Mosque.
Before the Jummah prayers this morning, some masked individuals are said to have invaded the mosque at around 9:30 a.m. and tried to chase away some people who had gathered around it.
There have been intermittent shootings, and the problem has reportedly gotten worse.
There are at least seven (7) people who are thought to have been shot.
Locals are attributing the unrest to the long-running conflict within the Zongo community about the identity of the rightful Volta Regional Chief Imam, even if the exact reason of the unrest is yet unknown.
