The Central North Regional Police Command has rescued a 30-year-old man who was allegedly kidnapped at Assin Fosu in Ghana’s Central Region.
The victim, identified as Bismark Amoh, was reportedly abducted on Sunday, September 6, 2026. He has since been rescued by the police and is currently receiving medical treatment.
The Ghana Police Service has launched investigations to identify and arrest the individuals suspected of being behind the alleged kidnapping.
Kidnappers Demand GH¢45,000 Ransom
According to police information, the suspected kidnappers initially demanded a GH¢45,000 ransom from Bismark Amoh’s family and gave them 24 hours to produce the money.
During the alleged abduction, the family reportedly received several WhatsApp recordings showing Bismark tied up and being physically assaulted.
In the recordings, the victim could reportedly be heard pleading with his relatives to urgently raise the ransom money to secure his release.
The suspects allegedly used Bismark’s mobile phone to communicate with his family through WhatsApp while he was being held captive.
Family Pays GH¢19,500
The victim’s family reportedly sought financial assistance from relatives, friends and other well-wishers and managed to raise GH¢19,500.
The money was subsequently paid to the suspected kidnappers. However, the suspects allegedly refused to release Bismark after receiving the payment.
Instead, they reportedly demanded an additional GH¢30,500, increasing the total ransom demand to GH¢49,500.
The suspects allegedly gave the family another eight-hour deadline and threatened to kill Bismark and destroy his mobile phones if the additional money was not paid.
Police Rescue Kidnapped Man
The situation prompted the police to mount an operation to rescue the victim.
The operation eventually led to the successful rescue of Bismark Amoh, who was subsequently taken to a medical facility for treatment.
The Central North Regional Police Command is continuing investigations aimed at identifying and apprehending the suspected kidnappers.
The Police Command has indicated that additional information will be released as investigations into the Assin Fosu kidnapping case progress.
