President Mahama proposed comprehensive reforms to bolster Ghana’s economic sovereignty at the Addis Reckoning of the Accra Reset Initiative, a side event he sponsored during the summit.

These include Ghana’s intentions to stop exporting raw mineral ores in 2030 and buy its cocoa with local money.

In his remarks at the Accra Reset side event, the President reflected on years of participation on both continental and international forums and stated that the time now calls for decisive, unified action.

President Mahama sponsored two additional events on African Financial Management Institutions and Reparations in addition to attending the heads of state meeting on the APRM.

On behalf of Africa, he declared, Ghana will present a historic resolution to the UN General Assembly in March calling for the Transatlantic Slave Trade to be recognised as the most serious crime against humanity worldwide.
