Hon. Edem Agbana, the Ketu North Member of Parliament, gave a speech on population and development titled “Shaping Ghana’s Development Narrative.”
He urged government organisations, the commercial sector, development partners, civil society, and traditional and community leaders to better coordinate their efforts in order to guarantee that economic planning and population dynamics are appropriately matched.
He underlined the need to empower citizens, especially women and young people, by increasing access to meaningful education and reproductive health services, and that the Population and Development Caucus’ work must act as a catalyst for long-term, sustainable action.
A few Members of Parliament also contributed to the statement, pleading with the Speaker to send it to the relevant Committee for additional consideration and a report to the House.
