Carlos Queiroz, the recently appointed head coach of the Black Stars, is scheduled to be officially unveiled in Ghana this week as the team gets ready for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The seasoned Portuguese strategist, who has previously worked with Portugal and Egypt, has agreed to a four-month deal to guide Ghana into the international tournament that will take place in the US, Canada, and Mexico.
Queiroz was appointed after Otto Addo was fired last month because to Ghana’s unsatisfactory pre-World Cup friendly. Addo’s term was ultimately ended by the Black Stars’ crushing 5-1 loss to Austria in Vienna and their subsequent 2-1 loss to Germany in Stuttgart.
Since then, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has moved quickly to install Queiroz as his replacement.
The media and important stakeholders are anticipated to attend a formal unveiling ceremony upon his arrival.
The GFA will formally introduce the new head coach to Kofi Adams, the Minister of Sports and Recreation, as part of the protocol.
Queiroz will be in charge of Ghana’s last round of preparations, which includes friendly games against Wales and Mexico on June 2, as soon as he is unveiled.
Ghana will begin their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17, followed by matches against England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.
The Black Stars are going into the tournament with great expectations as they compete in Group L.
