A premix fuel station at the Bosomtwi-Sam Fishing Harbour in Sekondi in the Western Region was destroyed by a fire outbreak on Sunday, 21 June, which was purportedly caused by a small landslip that pulled down an electricity pole.

Eyewitnesses said that Sunday’s intense rains forced a portion of the steep area surrounding the fishing harbour to collapse, causing an electricity pole to fall onto the premix fuel storage facility.

Two cars, as well as portions of the station’s offices and ice rooms, were reportedly destroyed by the fire that was started by the impact.

DO3 Emmanuel Bonney of the Western Regional Fire Command told Citi News that firefighters were able to extinguish the fire just before 8:00 p.m.

He stated that investigations are being conducted to identify the precise cause of the incident.
