Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Finance, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, has described the expansion of First Atlantic Bank into Liberia as a major achievement for Ghana’s banking sector and a significant step in the international growth of Ghanaian financial institutions.
Speaking on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama during the official inauguration of First Atlantic Bank Liberia, the Deputy Finance Minister said the move reflects the increasing strength and competitiveness of Ghanaian banks in expanding across African markets.
According to Mr. Ampem, the bank’s entry into Liberia is more than the launch of a new financial institution. He noted that it represents a key milestone in regional economic integration, cross-border investment, and Africa’s broader economic transformation.
He added that the successful expansion highlights the ability of Ghanaian businesses to compete internationally while supporting financial inclusion, trade, investment, and sustainable economic development across the continent.
