The Board Chair of Ghana National Gas Limited Company (Ghana Gas), Hon. Kofi Totobi Quakyi, and the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Judith Adjobah Blay, participated in the Governing Board and CEOs Conference organised by the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA).

The conference was held under the theme, “Creating Public Value through Leadership, Corporate Governance and Performance Excellence,” with a focus on strengthening leadership, accountability and operational performance across Ghana’s state-owned enterprises (SOEs).

Addressing participants, SIGA Director-General Prof. Michael Kpessa Whyte said the engagement was important for assessing the operational performance of state-owned companies, identifying emerging risks and taking timely measures to address them.

He emphasised that effective corporate governance and strong leadership are essential to building a more efficient and sustainable Ghanaian public sector.

President John Dramani Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama, who delivered the keynote address, stressed that public ownership must translate into tangible value for the people of Ghana.

The President therefore challenged Board Chairs and Chief Executive Officers of state-owned enterprises to improve performance by creating public value, increasing revenue, reducing operational costs and strengthening accountability.

President Mahama also commended state institutions that have demonstrated consistent performance and specifically highlighted Ghana Gas for maintaining profitability over the past five years.

According to the President, the company’s consistent financial performance is a significant achievement that must be sustained through effective management, strong corporate governance and continued operational efficiency.
