Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the successful implementation of the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor Project, a major West African infrastructure initiative aimed at improving regional connectivity and trade.
The Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini, gave the assurance when the Board Chair of the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor Management Authority (ALCoMA), Mr. Wilfried Lauriano do Rego, paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Roads and Highways.
During the meeting, Hon. Suhuyini said Ghana remains ready to work with ALCoMA, member countries and other stakeholders to advance the implementation of the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor Project.
He also assured the delegation of Ghana’s willingness to support efforts to resolve key issues necessary for the successful execution of the regional road infrastructure project.
Mr. Wilfried Lauriano do Rego, for his part, said ALCoMA is prepared to commence operations and collaborate with participating countries and relevant stakeholders to move the project forward.
Discussions during the meeting focused on several critical aspects of the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor Project, including resource mobilisation, detailed engineering designs, land acquisition and valuation, and compensation for project-affected persons.
The Abidjan-Lagos Corridor is considered an important West African transport and infrastructure project, with potential implications for regional trade, economic integration, transportation and cross-border connectivity.
Ghana’s continued support is expected to contribute to efforts to address outstanding implementation challenges and facilitate progress on the project.
