Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Minister of Energy, has urged the members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to put in extra effort to win the next elections against John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Dr. Prempeh underlined that Ghanaians do not stand to gain significantly from John Mahama’s record.

It was pointed out to him that, in contrast to John Mahama, whose record Dr. Prempeh finds unsatisfactory, none of the NPP’s flagbearer candidates had ever held the presidency.

On October 27, 2023, prior of the NPP’s flagbearer elections, Dr. Prempeh admitted that the global economic issues had made governments, especially the NPP, unpopular internationally. He was speaking to delegates from his Manhyia South constituency in the Ashanti Region.

He asked NPP members to share with the Ghanaian public the party’s endeavors in tackling these issues and to compare the NPP’s results with the NDC’s, which did not experience comparable external shocks.

Dr. Prempeh further emphasized how critical it is that NPP members view the November 4, 2023, exercise as an internal process devoid of hostility, conflict, and hostility.

In order to secure a victory over the NDC, he urged delegates to collaborate following the presidential primaries.
