Martin Amidu, the former Special Prosecutor, has criticized Kissi Adjabeng, his successor, for allegedly stifling probes into allegations of bribery against Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
In his most recent letter, “The Special Prosecutor Blackmails the Government by Prosecutions of Former Government Appointees,” Mr. Amidu revealed this.
In addition, Mr. Amidu claimed that the Special Prosecutor had suppressed the nearly finished investigations into three separate cases of corruption and public procurement malpractices involving the National Lotteries Authority (NLA), Tekstart Africa Limited (Tekstart), and his client.
The OSP’s handling of the complaints and information that the Ashanti Region Lotto Marketing Companies, Retailers Association, and other complainants had given it during his tenure against Tekstart Africa Limited and the NLA, he continued, was still something that they had to reconcile with.
In the ongoing investigation of Charles Bissue’s Galamsey Fraud Case, he also made fun of Mr. Adjabeng.
According to Martin Amidu’s findings, Anas Aremeyaw Anas tricked Charles Bissue, the former secretary of the now-defunct Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), in the 2019 Galamsey Fraud Part 1 documentary.
He clarified that in order to register ORR Resources Enterprise, the business that was utilized to trap Charles Bissue, Anas was accused of using questionable methods and bribery.
Martin Amidu stated that Anas was under investigation for that particular offense; he also revealed that Kissi Agyabeng was not aware of this at the time. Amidu had written to the OSP requesting that Anas Aremeyaw Anas be disguised when testifying in court.
“Kissi Agyebeng, like most suspected criminals, has conveniently forgotten that, while serving as Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ attorney, he is known to have asked for written guarantees that Anas would testify in the Charles Bissue investigation while donning a mask.”
“Kissi Agyebeng has forgotten as most suspected criminals easily do, that as a lawyer for Anas Aremeyaw Anas, he is on record to have sought assurances under his signature for Anas Aremeyaw Anas to give evidence in the Charles Bissue investigation wearing a mask”
“The OSP was investigating Anas for suspected bribery and corruption in the registration of ORR Resources Enterprise which was used to entrap the suspects in the case”, he said.
Martin Amidu claimed that in order to safeguard his and Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ interests, Mr. Adjabeng had purportedly blocked that probe as well as others since taking office.
