The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has instructed all of its members to abstain from commenting on the situation in order to preserve decorum and settle existing disputes with Manhyia Palace.
The summons occurred after the Ashanti Region’s radio banter intensified, allegedly because Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako made disparaging remarks about Manhyia Palace.
At a news conference in Kumasi, the Ashanti Region, NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong discussed the matter.
Recall that a few weeks ago, Chairman Wontumi made news when he purportedly claimed to have established his own kingdom and was thus a more powerful institution than the Asante monarch.
In addition, the article stated that anytime Wontumi disagreed with the King on a matter, he may address him directly.
According to the account, he declared, “I have built my own kingdom; I have my own police and military; and I will speak my mind to Otumfuo if I disagree on an issue with him.”
However, in a circulated tape, Chairman Wontumi refuted the accusations.
General Secretary Kodua Frimpong stressed the party’s commitment to finding a solution while upholding harmony and decency during the press conference.
He declared that the goal of the NPP’s decision to forbid party members from making remarks is to stop tensions from rising higher and to encourage amicable communication.
Kodua underlined again how crucial it is to keep a positive connection with Manhyia Palace, stressing the necessity of communication and mutual understanding in order to resolve any issues or misunderstandings.
The public was given assurances by the NPP General Secretary that the party will address the situation inside and seek to find a peaceful conclusion.
He asked party members and the general public to use caution and refrain from taking any activities that would make the situation worse.
In addition to reaffirming the NPP’s dedication to serving the people of Ghana and advancing national development, Kodua expressed confidence in the party’s capacity to resolve the concerns with Manhyia Palace in a courteous and mutually beneficial manner.
