With effect from April 1 to June 30, 2024, the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has announced a downward review of residential customers’ electricity rates.
According to PURC, the discount is only available to residential customers with use of 301 kWh or more.
The Commission said in a statement dated February 27 that pricing for residential customers in the 0-300 kWh usage range and lifeline customers (0-30 kWh) will remain unchanged by 0%.
Statement said, “Tariffs within the 0-300kWh for non-residential class of consumers remains the same with no change in their rates. However, consumers within 301kWh and above class will experience an average reduction of 4.980/0,”
Following the fourth-quarter tariff review in November 2023, the PURC implemented a 0.34% increase in water pricing and a 1.52% drop in electricity tariffs, which went into effect on December 1, 2023. This decision follows that development.
Residential customers were shifted from GHS/m³ 4.72 to 4.74 and non-residential customers from GHS/m³ 14.13 to 14.19 as a result of the water tariff modifications.
The tariff on water sachet producers increased from GHS/m³ 22.26 to 22.34, while the price on industrial consumers increased from GHS/m³ 25.29 to 25.38.
