3rd Made-In-Ghana Bazaar Commences

The 3rd Made-in-Ghana Bazaar, a flagship programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration commenced on Thursday, 23rd May, 2024 at the Accra International Conference Centre. The Bazaar is being held under the theme “Promoting Made-in-Ghana Goods and Services for Economic Prosperity “.

During the opening ceremony, the Minister for Trade and Industry, Hon. Kobina Tahir Hammond (MP), commended the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional for the event, which is aimed at promoting Made-in-Ghana goods and services on the international market. Hon. Hammond further encouraged the general public to patronise Made-in-Ghana goods and services which plays a crucial role in the development of the local economy as well as preserving the productive sectors of the country for future generations. “Every purchase made here today helps to sustain livelihoods and promote productivity and sustainability in our communities” he added.

The Hon. Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Mavis Nkansah-Boadu, in her address, stated that the goal of the Bazaar is to facilitate the penetration of Ghanaian products and services into foreign markets through the network of Ghana’s Missions abroad and Diplomatic Missions accredited to Ghana.

She added that it will invariably support the growth of Small and Medium-size Enterprises (SMEs) by providing them with the needed impetus to expand into the international market including the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The Chief Director for the Ministry of Foreign and Affairs and Regional Integration, Ambassador Ramses J. Cleland in his remarks was hopeful that the three-day bazaar will contribute to providing the platform that will create opportunities to expand the goals and objectives of the bazaar towards economic development and provide adequate support to transform Ghana’s small and medium-scale sector.

There was a wide range of Made-in-Ghana goods and services on display, live performance of Made-in-Ghana music, and a panel discussion on the topic “The Changing Nature of Economic Diplomacy – A Private Sector Perspective”.

The Bazaar continues today with side events such as the panel discussion on Equipping SMEs to take Advantage of the AfCFTA and Projecting Ghana’s Creative Arts Industry for Sustainable Development as well as live performances of authentic Ghanaian music.
