The circumstances surrounding the deaths of two children in Kakpayili, a Tamale neighborhood in the Northern Region, are the subject of an investigation by the Ghana Police Service.

The two dead children were reported missing on June 25, 2024, according to a statement from the police, who also stated that their bodies “were found on June 30, 2024 in an abandoned vehicle in one of the compounds within the Kakpayili community.”

However, because the children’s decomposing bodies were left in a car beside a mallam’s house, the people of Kakpayili believe that the children were killed for ritualistic reasons.

The two dead children’s remains have been placed at the Tamale Teaching Hospital Morgue for preservation and autopsy, per the police, while the investigation is still ongoing.

Hafiz Andani, the local assembly member, has meantime urged the police to stop at nothing to see that the toddlers receive justice.

“We are calling for justice for the boys. We don’t want what happened to the Takoradi girls to repeat here.”

“We don’t care who the person is, whether an opinion leader, political head, or whatever. What we want is justice,” he declared.
