The public has been informed by the Electoral Commission (EC) that the loss of a biometric verification device (BVD) will not jeopardize the integrity of the general elections in 2024.
This announcement follows the Friday, August 23, arrest of a man in Nsawam for having a stolen BVD.
Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Chairman of Operations for the EC, made it clear on Saturday, August 24, that BVDs are only used for voter verification and cannot be used to affect election results.
He went on to say that in order for BVDs to work properly, they also need an activation code and other security features.
In a statement, the EC stated that it is looking into the situation internally and would cooperate with law enforcement to find a solution.
