Ghana is an excellent example in Africa, according to the African Union Election Observation Team in Ghana, which is headed by former Ethiopian President H.E. Sahle-Work Zewdehas.

The team has expressed confidence in Ghana’s general elections, which are scheduled for Saturday, December 7, 2024.

Her Excellency Sahle-Work mentioned Ghana’s election and democratic credentials during a courtesy call on Hon. Henry Quartey, the Interior Minister, at his Accra office. She said she hoped for another successful election in 2024.

She asserts that the success of the next general elections depends heavily on Ghana’s Ministry of the Interior. For the benefit of the populace, appropriate steps should be taken to improve the nation’s prior elections.

The Commission was reassured by Hon. Henry Quartey, who welcomed the team to Ghana, that sufficient security measures, including the Election Security Task Force and logistics, have been established to guarantee peaceful elections in order to strengthen Ghana’s democracy.

He clarified that a number of productive meetings with political parties, the Electoral Commission, and other stakeholders had been held as part of the procedures put in place to guarantee free and fair elections.

His Excellency, President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana, is a man of peace who upholds the rule of law, came to power peacefully, and will go peacefully, the Minister further promised.

In keeping with the Commission’s duty to assist Union Member States in strengthening democracy, peace, and security, the African Union Election Observation Team is visiting Ghana in advance of the general elections.
