Davida Asante Boateng and Lilian Akorli, two former Achimota School pupils, were killed in a suspected hit-and-run on the Achimota Highway after being struck by a car.
The two, who were both students at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) and members of the Old Achimotan Association (OAA) 2024, were returning from their alma mater’s Annual Bonfire Celebration when the event happened at approximately 11:30 p.m. on March 7, 2025.
The victims were hit by a black Toyota Corolla while they were crossing the highway, according to an official statement from the OAA24 Executive Board.
They were seriously hurt when a driver didn’t stop. At approximately 12:02 a.m., Good Samaritans hurried them to the hospital.
On March 8, at around 4:00 a.m., Ms. Boateng was declared deceased at the hospital. Later that morning, Ms. Akorli passed away after suffering serious injuries.
The families of the deceased have received condolences and support from the OAA24 Executive Board.
In a statement, the association added, “We will continue to stand by their families and find ways to honour their memory.”
