Ahead of Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson’s 2025 budget presentation, Sammy Gyamfi, the Precious Minerals Marketing Company’s acting managing director, has voiced optimism.
Speaking prior to the budget reading, Mr. Gyamfi characterized the day as noteworthy since it represents the Mahama-led government’s first budget presentation following its election victory.
“Well, today is a great day – the day for the first budget reading for the Mahama government since our emphatic victory at the polls. I am very confident and optimistic that the budget to be presented by the Finance Minister, my brother, Cassiel Ato Forson, will inspire hope,” he said.
According to Mr. Gyamfi, Ghana’s recent economic difficulties have made hope a scarce commodity, particularly among the country’s youth.
He gave Ghanaians his word that their issues would be addressed and their standard of living would be improved by the new budget.
“This is a budget that will respond to the needs and aspirations of the people of Ghana. It is a budget that will ease hardships. It is a budget that will introduce the kind of reforms we need to reset our economy, creating an environment where businesses thrive and where all people, irrespective of their political affiliations, can realize their potential and dreams,” he added.
Mr. Gyamfi underlined that the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) dedication to keeping its pledges to Ghanaians would be reflected in the budget.
“I am looking forward to a budget that inspires, a budget that is alive to the needs of the people, and a budget that will keep faith with the social contract we in the NDC have with the people. It must respect the promises we made at the polls and include far-reaching policies for job creation, easing hardships, and creating prosperity for all.”
The budget, which outlines the main policies and economic intentions for the upcoming year, is anticipated to be presented to Parliament later today by Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson.
