Chief Dr. Doliwura Zakaria, Managing Director of National Investment Bank PLC (NIB), met with Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, on Wednesday, April 3, 2025, to discuss ways to work together to support Ghana’s tourism, cultural, and creative industries.
Exploring prospects within the sector, which makes a substantial contribution to Ghana’s economic development, is the goal of this partnership.
The following topics were at the heart of the conversations:
a) Strengthening NIB’s Financial Base: The partnership will enable the Ministry to channel funds and those of its agencies through the bank, thereby enhancing NIB’s financial base.
b) NIB Supporting National Development: The collaboration will strengthen and enhance NIB’s financial base to support the government’s developmental initiatives.
c) There were also discussions of NIB helping to collect revenue at national heritage sites such as the forts and castles across the country as a way of streamlining and enhancing the efficiency of revenue collection at these sites.
d) On her part, Hon. Dzifa Gomashie welcomed the prospect of partnering with NIB. She revealed that the Ministry is on the verge of securing a grant from investors aimed at infrastructure improvement. She assured the team that she would do well to obtain the necessary approvals to enable the Ministry to open an account with NIB to manage the project funds. e) Empowering Women and Cultural Tourism: In line with the Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Hon Gomashie appealed to the Bank to consider initiatives that would benefit women.
She emphasized the significance of supporting cultural tourism and women’s empowerment as paths to sustainable development.
In order to fully use Ghana’s tourism, cultural, and creative industries, the meeting represents a positive first step toward a strategic relationship between NIB and the Ministry.
