All telecom operators have been given the go-ahead by the National Communications Authority (NCA) to delete all SIMs that were disconnected by the deadline of March 31, 2023 from their databases of SIM registrations.
Sims that are still blocked in accordance with the Communication Minister’s order from November 30, 2022, must be included in this by Monday, April 17, 2023.
The instruction from the NCA clarifies previous directives dated March 20, 2023, April 11, 2023, and April 6, 2023. With this action, the Central SIM Register will accurately record and account for all disconnected SIMs.

Additionally, by Tuesday, April 18, 2023, telecom providers must provide a written report to the NCA detailing the total number of SIMs that were disconnected in accordance with the mandate.
The NCA’s guideline emphasizes how crucial it is to maintain correct and up-to-date SIM registration databases. This is essential for preventing the use of SIMs for unlawful activities and safeguarding people’s security and privacy.
According to a statement, “all SIMs registered after the limit of ten (10) must be removed from SIM registration databases and deactivated, with the same reflected in the Central SIM Register by Monday, 17th April 2023.”
Regulation 1 of the Subscriber Identity Module Registration Regulations, 2011, which the NCA has emphasized that failure to follow would constitute a breach of, would be violated.
The NCA further stated, “We rely on your usual cooperation.”
