A 16-person high-level delegation from the Parliament Standing Committee on Defense and Security of the Gambia, headed by Hon. Samba Jallow, visited the Ministry of the Interior in Accra on a study tour. Learning from the Ministry and enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations were the goals of the visit.
Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the Interior Minister, greeted the group at Parliament, the venue of the conference, and emphasized the need of exchanging ideas in government, pointing out that no nation can succeed on its own and stressing the necessity of collaboration.
Hon. Muntaka gave a summary of the activities and agencies of the Ministry, emphasizing the National Peace Council. He pointed out that the Council, which fosters tolerance and peace, is essential to Ghana’s democratic process.
The minister emphasized the significance of treating matters with tact and deference in a democratic setting, stressing that the absence of violence does not always equate to peace.
According to him, democracy depends on virtues like patience, tolerance, fairness, and others. Ghana has advanced in democracy because the opposition and government parties live side by side in peace and accept one another’s opinions, which is the way to go.
The Gambian delegation praised Ghana’s efforts to advance peace and stability and conveyed gratitude for the cordial welcome.
In order to help their respective countries, the parties decided to strengthen their relationship by exchanging knowledge and ideas.
The visit emphasizes how crucial international collaboration and parliamentary diplomacy are, especially in West Africa.
Ghana and Gambia can cooperate to address shared issues and advance regional stability by exchanging best practices and experiences.
