The public is officially notified that Eid-Ul-Adha is a Statutory Public Holiday on Friday, June 6, 2025, and should be celebrated as such across the nation.

According to the statement issued by Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed, “The general public is hereby informed that Friday, June 6, 2005, marks Eid-Ul-Adha, which is a Statutory Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country.”

One of the most significant holidays in the Muslim calendar is Eid ul-Adha, often known as the “Festival of Sacrifice.

The occasion has deep roots since it commemorates Ibrahim’s (Abraham’s) readiness to offer his son Ismail (Ishmael) as a sacrifice in response to Allah’s instruction.

The Quran states that Allah stepped in and gave Ibrahim a lamb, which he was to slay in place of the sacrifice, before Ibrahim could offer it.
