Corruption in the mining industry is being reduced by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). In an effort to combat corruption, AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) collaborated with the Office to inform its stakeholders about the dangers of participating in corrupt activities while conducting business in Obuasi, Ashanti Region.

Samuel Appiah Darko, Director for Strategy and Research, led a discussion outlining the OSP’s authority to look into, prosecute, and recover the proceeds of corruption involving politicians, public officials, and members of the business sector.

Along with learning about the safeguards and incentive programs available to whistleblowers, participants were also given an overview of the several avenues for reporting corruption.

Samuel Boakye Pobee, the managing director of AngloGold Ashanti’s Obuasi Mine, and his staff utilized the occasion to highlight the organization’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption.

Mining employees, contractors, traditional leaders, government officials, and members of the media were all present at the event, which reaffirmed the need for cooperation in the battle against corruption.
