Sam Nartey George, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo Prampram, has reaffirmed his openness to offer suggestions on how to fix the problems plaguing the current SIM re-registration procedure.
The Ningo Prampram MP made these remarks in response to news that some SIM card customers’ Ghana cards had been connected to those of other SIM card subscribers.
The National Communications Authority (NCA), in collaboration with the telcos, has developed a system to help SIM card subscribers verify the number of SIM cards connected to their Ghana Cards in order to address this issue. It started on May 1st, 2023, on a Monday.
By the end of April 2023, after the testing has been finished and approved, the NCA had stated that “subscribers will not need to physically go to the telco to verify same when the shortcode is operational.”
Therefore, a shortcode has been developed for SIM card users to use in order to check the number of SIM cards connected to their Ghana Card.
The Ningo Prampram MP responded to reports that some people were linking the SIM cards of others to their Ghana Cards in a tweet by writing: “I made these comments almost 8 months ago.”
“I guess time has proven me right,” he added. Those who lack technical proficiency should simply learn some humility.
The Ningo Prampram MP continued, “I remain ready to offer counsel if only those in power are willing to accept it.
