Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s flag bearer nomination forms for the ruling New Patriotic Party have been completely funded and selected by a group, who want to surprise the candidate at the Jubilee House with the paperwork.
According to the group, Dr. Bawumia must lead the NPP into the general elections of 2024 in order to end the eight-year cycle of political change. The organization’s head, Ntim Jakari, told journalists that they carried out all of this work without the vice president’s knowledge.
They exhibited the GH50,000 check from the GCB Bank that they used to purchase the vice president’s forms.
According to Mr. Jakari, the Bawumia Fun Club decided that we would pay and present it to their father and our next president.
He asserted, saying “We are taking him by surprise,” that “He is not aware we are doing this.” We will present it to him at the Jubilee House after payment, he replied.
Aspirants to be the NPP’s flag bearer can purchase forms today for GHC $50,000.
The NPP is accepting nominations from now—Friday, May 26, 2023—through Saturday, June 24, 2023.
The declaration was made by the party in a statement that was signed by Justin Kodua Frimpong, general secretary. Each candidate must pay GH50,000 for the application forms.
Along with Dr. Bawumia, other candidates for the position include the former general secretary of the party Kwabena Agyepong, Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, Essikado-Ketan MP Joe Ghartey, and former trades minister Alan Kyerematen.
Boakye Agyarko, a former minister of energy, Owusu Afriyie Akoto, a former minister of agriculture, Kofi Konadu Apraku, a former minister of regional cooperation and NEPAD, and Francis Addai-Nimoh, a former Mampong MP, round out the group.
