Ghana is close to selecting a new head coach for the Black Stars, according to Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams. An official announcement is anticipated today, Monday, April 13, 2026.
He stressed that only a few discussions remain before a final decision is made, indicating that the selection process is almost over.
In an attempt to find the most qualified applicant for the position, authorities have started interacting with shortlisted individuals.
“Hopefully, if by this weekend we don’t announce the coach, by Monday we should be able to announce our new coach. We’ve come very far. They still have a few more to talk to, and they have finished talking to those few,” he stated.
The appointment comes as the Ghana Football Association stepped up attempts to find a replacement for Otto Addo.
A shortlist of three candidates has apparently been reviewed by the Association’s Executive Committee in order to make a selection.
On Sunday, April 12, the Minister stated on Channel One TV that the Association will work with the government to finalise the appointment’s requirements after a decision is reached.
As Ghana gets ready for forthcoming competitions, such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the new coach will be expected to stabilise the team and boost performance after recent poor performances.
Carlos Queiroz, Fernando Santos, Paulo Bento, and Walid Regragui are reportedly among the seasoned international managers on the shortlist.
