Ben Peters, a Nigerian businessman, was taken into custody by a team of National Security agents, police, and military personnel at the Aurora Apartments in Kanda, Accra, after a heated confrontation near the Jubilee House.
Richard Jakpa and Mustapha Gbande, the Deputy Director of Operations at the presidency, led the operation. It was conducted after Mr. Peters and several unidentified armed men allegedly used their cars to block the entrance to the residential complex, making it impossible for other residents to enter.
Mustapha Gbande confirmed the occurrence, saying, “He has blocked the place such that no individual can go in or come out. Nobody can come into our country and take our people into this ransom. It is illegal and unlawful. This cannot be done in Nigeria and certainly not in this country.”
Since then, Mr. Peters and a few of his associates have been arrested, and National Security has seized the cars he used to obstruct the facility.
As investigations continue, it is still unknown what motivated Mr. Peters to act aggressively at the Aurora Apartments.
