The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken notice of a widely shared news headline that states that the Ministry has authorised the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) staff to travel to the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Germany in order to register and renew the driver’s licenses of Ghanaian drivers living abroad.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs would want to make it clear that it has neither given our diplomatic posts overseas instructions nor authorised any organization to make such an arrangement.

There isn’t a new government policy to that effect that the Ministry is aware of.

Furthermore, the Ministry does not have any records pertaining to this alleged new policy direction. For the avoidance of doubt, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has unquestionably established that there has been no official engagement, no new policy brought to our attention, and no financial commitment.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wants to reassure the public about its dedication to financial responsibility and openness in the provision of public services.
