In the Ashanti Region’s Supuma Forest Reserve, close to Amponyase, three individuals have been officially declared deceased following their confinement in an abandoned galamsey pit.

The three colleagues were searching for gold in the abandoned mine when it collapsed, according to information received.

When police arrived at the scene after being called, they discovered that the victims were 34-year-old Yaw Mensah, 47-year-old Kwadwo Sunkwa, and 35-year-old Aklorgo Latif.

Although blood was discovered dripping from Aklorgo Latif’s nose, police say that neither Kwadwo Sonkwa’s nor Aklorgo Latif’s bodies bore any signs of violence. Yaw Mensah has a shattered right hand and a new mark on his face.

The deceased people’s bodies were transported and placed in the mortuary of the Dunkwa Government Hospital for preservation and autopsy.
