In a demonstration dubbed #OccupyBoG against the Governor and his appointees, the Minority Caucus in Parliament is on the streets marching to the Bank of Ghana alongside other opposition political parties, pressure groups, and civil society organizations.
To begin the march, the protesters gathered at the Obra Spot at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle. There are designated protest routes that lead from the Obra Spot at Kwame Nkrumah Circle and conclude at Independence Square.
The police will send out enough personnel during the demonstration to demonstrate their dedication to upholding the peace. Alternative routes will be available as some roads will be momentarily shut. The Minority cites a loss of GH$60.81 billion in 2022 and $250 million spent on a new headquarters in its request for the Bank’s leadership to step down.
The demonstration, which was hampered by route disagreements, aims to raise awareness of the Bank’s financial woes, and media covering the event are asked to bring identification for easier movement.
