Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has urged Akwatia constituency people to back the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate, Bernard Bediako Baidoo Esq., in the impending September 2 by-election.

According to him, voting for the NDC candidate will ensure that Akwatia directly benefits from the government’s development program, since the candidate will have access to the President and other top officials to drive developmental initiatives forward.

“With the NDC in power, Bernard Bediako Baidoo, who is the son of the President, will have easy access to him and government machinery to bring the needed development to the people of Akwatia. So I urge the voters to vote for him. I want to assure you that the NDC government won’t disappoint the people of Akwatia,” Julius Debrah said.

He informed locals that the government remains committed to fulfilling its commitments to improve infrastructure and living standards in the constituency and that the NDC will not disappoint them after the elections.

The Chief of Staff made the statements while meeting with religious leaders in Akwatia as part of his campaign for the NDC candidate.

The Chief of Staff previously paid a visit to the Palace of the Chief of Akyem Wenchi, also known as the Oseawuohene of Akyem Abuakwa, Daasebre Dr. Asumadu Appiah, to introduce the parliamentary candidate.

He requested that a conference be organized with Akwatia chiefs and stakeholders to discuss the viability of building a satellite campus of the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) in Akwatia, Eastern Region.

The move followed a request by the Chiefs of the Oseawuo Division to turn a portion of the old Great Consolidated Diamond Company (GCD) buildings into a satellite school for youth training in sustainable mining methods.

According to the Chiefs, the plan, which has been on the table for decades, will assist in training young people in sustainable mining and offer additional job prospects.

He concluded the campaign tour with a meeting with miners in the Akwatia area, where he pledged to solve the many concerns highlighted.

The NDC Parliamentary Candidate Bernard Bediako Baidoo stated that the NDC government has begun to deliver on its commitment to the people of Akwatia by restoring power supplies to the Akwatia GCD Community, which has been off the national grid for many years.

He stated that if he is elected as Akwatia’s Member of Parliament, many more advancements will take place.

The Chief of Staff was accompanied by Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Political Advisor at the Office of the Vice President; George Opare Addo, Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment and National Youth Organizer; Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey; Victor Smith, Ghana Ambassador to the United States; Marietta Brew Appiah Oppong, Legal Advisor to the President; Dr. Mark Oliver Kevor, Eastern Regional Chairman; and Evelyn Korang, Council of State Member.
