A six-member delegation from the Ghana Chapter of the International Youth Fellowship (IYF) paid a courtesy call on the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Mavis Nkansah Boadu, MP at the Foreign Ministry on Friday 26th April, 2024.
The purpose of the meeting was to introduce the upcoming activities of the fellowship to the Hon. Deputy Minister and to deepen relations with the Foreign Ministry.
The leader of the delegation, Dr. David Oh, who is the Country Director of the IYF, Ghana, indicated that the aim of the group is to promote youth development in Ghana by empowering the youth through leadership training, character building, skills training and cultural exchange programmes. He informed that the organisation was in the process of establishing a youth center in Ghana to provide a dedicated space for young people to engage in a range of programmes and activities in order to equip them with requisite skills to enable them to contribute to national development.
The Gen-Secretary of the IYF, Rev. Ato Edwin, explained that the IYF organises a wide range of programmes and activities for the youth at the secondary and tertiary level as well as individuals with low educational backgrounds in rural areas. These activities include Youth Camps, IT skills training, Leadership Workshops, Character building initiatives, among other impactful programmes.
The Deputy Minister, commended the organisation for its initiatives and encouraged them to keep up the good work in promoting youth development in Ghana. She further expressed the Ministry’s readiness to collaborate with the organisation in their drive to empower the youth to become responsible leaders.
The International Youth Fellowship (IYF) is a global organisation headquartered in Korea. It focuses on youth development through various educational and cultural programmes and operates in many countries around the world.
