Rolf Olson, Charge d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Ghana, has reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to working with the Ghanaian government to combat crime and terrorism.
He gave a speech at “Freedom250,” the 250th Independence Excellence Awards held at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra.
He mentioned in his speech the recent successful extradition of former CEO of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Sedina Attionu Tamakloe, who was found guilty of stealing and causing financial loss to the state.
“The United States deeply values Ghana’s partnership in confronting cyber-crimes and terrorism. Through close cooperation we continue to hold criminal actors accountable through evidence exchange, investigative support and extradition of fugitives,” he said.
Speaking as the honoured special guest, Minister of Justice and Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine stated that Ghana is still dedicated to working with the US in areas other than criminal activity, like as healthcare, education, and infrastructure development.
“Ghana is ready and willing to walk with the US on the onward journey for the years ahead of us. I reaffirm Ghana’s commitment to deepening her friendship with the USA. Together we can build a brighter future shared on principles and values,” he remarked.
