Petroleum product prices are expected to increase by a considerable amount per liter starting today, Monday, September 1, 2025.

This is based on the outlook report published by the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC), which sets the prices for the nation’s OMCs.

According to the estimate, starting on September 1, 2025, the price of gasoline at the pump is expected to rise by 3.86 to 5.40% per liter.

Because of this, a liter of gasoline might cost GH¢13.67.

The price of LPG will rise by as much as 4.57% per kilogram.

In contrast, diesel prices may rise by 3.39% a liter, which could make a liter cost GH¢14.35.

A significant decline of the cedi versus the US dollar over the past month has contributed to the raise, according to the COMAC.

The rate changed from GH¢10.71 to GH¢11.20, the “highest since the start of this year,” representing 3.98 percent.

The Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies, however, said that the price of crude oil has been declining on the global market; the price of gasoline has decreased by 0.45%, diesel by 3.73%, and LPG by 1.73%.

According to certain industry participants, the recent 1 cedi charge on certain petroleum products might have also increased the margin.

In spite of the decline in global oil prices, the Chamber contended in the report that the increase was “caused by the depreciation of the cedi against the dollar.”

The ongoing shortage of completed petroleum products, especially gasoline, which occurred earlier this month, also contributed to the price hike.

There were some supply issues in the market last week, particularly with regard to gasoline.

As a result, certain oil marketing businesses were compelled to raise their prices from mid-August 2025, when they were supposed to remain the same.
