In the western region’s Evalue Ajomoro-Gwira District, the Western Regional Police Command conducted a raid on an illegal mining enclave in Avelebo and Akango.
Ten excavators were seized by the team, and eight Ghanaian miners and seven foreign nationals were taken into custody.
The Ankobra is being contaminated by the illicit miners who have taken over the Evalue Jomoro enclave.
The excavators and other confiscated machinery will be used as evidence in their prosecution, according to authorities.
