The South African Football Association (SAFA) has confirmed that South Africa will play the Black Stars of Ghana in a friendly next week.
Officials have not yet revealed the exact location, but the game is set for Tuesday, December 16, 2025, in Gauteng.
The friendly is a part of Bafana Bafana’s last-minute preparations for the AFCON 2025 in Morocco.
A day following the friendly, the South African side is anticipated to go to North Africa in order to finalize their squad for the competition.
On December 22, South Africa, who were placed in Group B, will play their first AFCON match against Angola. Egypt and Zimbabwe will complete the group.
Ghana will utilize the match as an opportunity to put its team to the test in the absence of AFCON football.
The Black Stars failed to qualify for the first time in more than 20 years and are now focusing on the 2027 AFCON qualifiers, which begin in March 2026, as well as the 2026 FIFA World Cup, when they will face England, Croatia, and Panama in Group L.
The 2025 AFCON is set to take place from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026.
