The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, MP, and his staff met with the Ghana Chamber of Construction Industry (GhCCI) on Friday, March 14, 2025, to talk about important issues impacting the construction industry and look into potential cooperation.

Discussions centered on a number of important topics, such as land administration, land rezoning across the country, land banks for development projects, smart city development, real estate industry expansion, the surveying council bill and regulatory framework, and the investigation of other ways to improve land administration while tackling associated issues for national development.

Aligning the construction of housing infrastructure and national lands with climate-resilient policies and best practices also constituted a substantial portion of the discussion.

Using Rwanda as an example, Chamber President Nene Emmanuel Tetteh Martey stressed in his remarks the significance of accurate stool land demarcation and registration. In order to guarantee their proper usage, he also suggested zoning regions for natural resources.

Regarding infrastructure and real estate development, Mr. Tetteh Martey emphasized the difficulties developers encounter in obtaining clear titles and gaining access to land. In order to lower housing costs, he asked the government to provide basic infrastructure like roads, electricity, and water.

In order to properly regulate the industry, the Chamber emphasized the need to pass the Survey Council Bill, which is presently at the Attorney General’s Department.

Another Chamber member, Mr. Kwesi Poku, emphasized the value of interministerial cooperation in addressing urban planning issues.

In order to help investors understand land use in various regions, he underlined the necessity of thorough mapping.

Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, MP, Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, reaffirmed his dedication to promoting the Survey Council Bill’s passage. He gave the Chamber his word that he would work diligently with the Attorney General’s Department to pursue the bill.

As the meeting came to an end, Hon. Buah thanked everyone for coming and emphasized the value of continuing to have open discussions with all parties involved in order to successfully address the sector’s issues.
