The Government of Ghana has raised GH¢3.15 billion through a 4-year Treasury bond auction, attracting strong interest from investors amid growing activity in Ghana’s fixed-income market.

Market data obtained by JOYBUSINESS showed that the government received total bids of GH¢4.46 billion for the cedi-denominated bond. However, the government accepted and allotted GH¢3.15 billion at a clearing yield of 12%, according to the official auction results released on Friday.

The settlement of the 4-year Ghana Treasury bond is scheduled for September 7, 2026, as the government continues to rely on the domestic capital market to finance its fiscal requirements and manage public debt.

Six financial institutions participated as active bond specialists for the latest government securities auction. They include Absa Bank, CalBank, Fincap, GCB Bank, OA and Stanbic Bank.

The cedi-denominated Treasury bond, which is expected to mature in 2030, was primarily marketed to resident investors. However, the investment opportunity was also opened to non-resident investors, potentially broadening participation in Ghana’s domestic debt market.

The bond is also expected to be listed on the Ghana Fixed Income Market (GFIM), providing investors with an avenue to trade the security in Ghana’s secondary bond market.

The latest Treasury bond auction highlights continued investor demand for Ghana government securities, while the 12% clearing yield provides an important benchmark for investors assessing returns in the country’s fixed-income and investment market.
